This is the perfect game for friends, family and children all year round. Playing memory games with your children is always a fun activity and great for development and learning. The ice lollies make it interesting and a little different from the normal memory cards. We recommend making it with your children for a fun arts and crafts project!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Cardboard paper (we used leftover packaging from our recycling box to save the environment!)
- Ice lolly sticks x 12 (Available to order on amazon)
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape or glue
- colour printer
WHAT TO DO:
Download & print out your lolly cutouts (we've attached a photo below so you can just print and cut these out). There's 2 of each popsicle type (12 altogether). With the cutouts, we traced them over on the cardboard paper and cut those out too. Make sure they all look as identical as possible so the lollies look the same from the back.
Glue or tape (double sided) the printed cutouts onto the cardboard cutouts. You should then have 12 printed cutouts glued to cardboard cutouts and also 12 additional cardboard cutouts for the back of the lollies. So 24 in total.
Place the printed side of the lolly cutout face down on the table. Glue the popsicle stick evenly on the middle. Make sure each popsicle is identical, placing each stick roughly in the same position for each popsicle so that they are all the same height and no obvious differences between them. (It's also best to choose sticks that have no apparent differences between them so players can't cheat!)
Once the stick is glued, add double sided tape or glue to the portion of the stick that's already attached to the cutout. Then carefully place the back of the lolly cutout to the stick so that both cardboard cutouts match evenly. Walla! You have a new game to play with your friends and family!
HOW TO PLAY:
- Mix up your popsicles
- Lay out the 12 popsicles face down in a 3x4 grid
- Take turns selecting and turning over any two popsicles at a time
- If they are a match, keep them
- If they are not, turn them back over
- Try to remember what each popsicle looks like and where it is located
- Once all popsicles have been matched, the player with the most pairs is the winner!
