Let's face it, no one likes getting up in the morning unless you belong to that special group of people who enjoy getting out of bed at the crack of dawn. In which case we have to ask WHY?!? and HOW?!? One way to trick our body into crawling out of our cosy beds in the morning is to promise ourselves a really yummy breakfast. So here we are sharing some of our favourite healthy recipes with you in the hopes of making your mornings a little brighter.

Acai Bowl

What you will need:
1 banana diced and frozen
1 handful of frozen berries or frozen chunks of mango
1 cup of almond milk, coconut milk or any other milk of your choice
1 tablespoon of acai powder
1/2 tablespoon of honey (optional if you like it sweet)

Blend all the ingredients together in a food processor and pour into a bowl.
Top with seeds, nuts, banana slices, berries, granola, cacao nibs or anything else you fancy to give your breakfast an extra boots of vitamins, protein and energy. Make it look all pretty and tag us in a picture of your finished masterpiece :) Then go ahead and enjoy!

Oats With Fruit

What you will need:
1/2 cup of oats
1 cup of water or oat milk, almond milk or any other milk for a creamier taste
2 Tablespoons of sultanas or raisins
1/2 Banana slices
1 handful of roasted almonds, pecans, cashew nuts or any other nuts you might fancy
1 handful of berries
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 drizzle of honey or maple syrup (optional)

Prepare the oats the way the packaging calls for and add the raisins while the oats are still cooking. Then take the oats off the stove/out of the micro wave and place them into a bowl. Top with the banana slices, berries and nuts. We like to alternate our toppings by season so feel free to change your toppings to whatever fruit you fancy. Dust some cinnamon on top and drizzle with a bit of honey or maple syrup to add a little sweetness. If you don't have time to make this delicious breakfast in the morning, we recommend leaving the oats and milk in the fridge overnight. Toppings can be added in the morning on your way out of the house! Easy!

Fruit Bowls

What you will need:
All the fruit you want, chopped up and served by itself or on top of some greek yogurt :) This is also a great office snack, we here at LICKALIX have one almost every day!

Smoothies

Smoothies are some of our favourite things to make in the morning. They are fast and easy to make and you can take them along if you are running late. We already did a post about our favorite smoothie recipes a while back  but you can always try new flavour combinations such as almond milk, banana, oats and cacao to keep your morning smoothies interesting.

Avocado and Eggs on Toast

What you will need:
2 slices of toast or sourdough bread
1 ripe avocado
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of almond or coconut butter

Toast your bread for a nice crisp. In the meantime cut the avocado in half, put it in a bowl and mush it up. Add a little salt and pepper and some chili flakes for flavour. In a pan heat up some coconut or almond butter and make yourself 2 fried eggs. If you are a kitchen pro like our directors you can have your eggs poached instead. While the eggs are sizzling away in the pan (or cooking to perfection in their hot water bath) take out your bread slices and spread the avocado on them. Then place the eggs on top once they are done. Some prefer to have the avocado simply sliced, that's okay too! :) Now all that's left to do is to enjoy your lovely breakfast.

These are our favourite healthy breakfast recipes to make. What do you eat to start off your day? We always love trying out new recipes so suggestions are always welcome :)
